- communication channel latency - email can take minutes to get delivered. Ironically I had to login to substack with a magic link to leave this comment. It took awhile to get the email. I almost was distracted and did not write this email. That latency could dramatically reduce conversion.
- cross device / browser links - the device or browser the user is in may not be the one that they receive the communication in for a magic link (not as acute for sending OTPs). When openning the link, the user is now in a different context, and linking the session the user was in with the new session in the link is a technical challenge.

Great points! Latency isn't something I considered, but that definitely affects the user experience and conversion.
